Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Skincare Milk SPF50+ 2022 version, also known as Anessa Skincare Milk N is an update of of the Anessa Skincare Milk A, which I’ve reviewed on the blog here. This review is focusing on the difference (if any) between those two, with our usual filter low-down, checklist, and how it looks on the skin. Let’s go!

My skin is medium dark tone, Fitzpatrick IV, with an extreme combination (prone to dry patches). I enjoy spending time in the sun, doing outdoor activities like running and hiking, although I don’t enjoy sunbathing per se. I prefer my sunscreens quick to absorb, not sticky, with minimal to no white cast.

Anessa’s product description from their official website below:

Would be very interesting to see if this is an even better sunscreen than the previous iteration, especially when using it for sports.

I’m not a chemist, so I’m not qualified to explain the ingredient differences in details, but these are the most differences:

  • Octinoxate is not present in Anessa Skincare Milk N
  • Instead, there are new UVB filters in Anessa Skincare Milk N: Octisalate, Homosalate, and Ethylhexyl Triazone.

On the packaging I have, there were only Japanese letters for ingredients, so please head over to incidecoder.

Anessa Skincare Milk N Application

Anessa Perfect UV Skincare Milk 2022 consistency
Anessa Perfect UV Skincare Milk 2022 1/4 teaspoon & 0.04 oz

The texture is very liquid, almost similar to the La Roche Posay UVMune 400 without the oily feeling. It also feels more liquid than the previous edition. I didn’t think this was possible, but if I thought Anessa Skincare Milk A applies like a dream, this one is even better. It’s like a dream with only the good fluffy things you want in your life.

It works well with any skincare I have underneath and any makeup I have on top. Sinks quickly, which makes it perfect for a fuss-free application on busy mornings.

Finish

Still holds the crown for the best finish for a sunscreen formulation. It’s amazingly non-sticky and non-tacky, and I haven’t found this anywhere else (you can check out other articles I wrote here). The closest one is possibly the Heliocare Water Gel, but that one makes my eyes water, which I didn’t get often with other sunscreens.

For this Anessa Skincare Milk 2022 review, I’m willing to forgive the slight white cast. PS: also take care if you’re sensitive to alcohol on the skin (which I’m not).

Claim Check on Anessa Perfect UV Skincare Milk 2022 edition

Disclaimer: The claim check is based on my experience only, and it might not be the ultimate truth for everyone.

Can be used as makeup primer

Absolutely. I can’t think of any other sunscreen that could claim this for me.

Mask stuffiness resistant

I’m not sure what it means, because I’ve never experienced this with any other sunscreens either. So yes?

Refreshing fragrance of fruity floral

The scent actually reminded me of dishwasher soap, but then fragrance is a personal thing.

Very water-resistant (80-minute bathing test)

I couldn’t check this claim because I haven’t been swimming since I wear this one.

Formulated with plant-derived moisturizing ingredients and beauty ingredients

Honestly, this looks like their weirdest claim. According to incidecoder, there doesn’t seem to be many breakthrough skin care ingredients here. Some vitamin E and antioxidants, and then dimethicone, water, glycerin. With their higher alcohol content and this claim, I expect something better.

Anessa Perfect UV Skincare Milk 2022 Short Review

Face Routine

Toner and serum, but on days I need more moisture, I can easily add a moisturizer or even B&S Dayshade SPF50 oil for added antioxidant & UVA protection.

Piling

Never happened on my skin

Feel on Skin

Very watery, sinks in quickly, leaving the skin with a silky smooth feel.

Scent

Quite prominent in the beginning, and then disappeared after a few minutes.

Stings the Eyes / General Discomfort

Not for me, but be aware if you’re sensitive to high alcohol content.

Packaging

The difference is only on the labeling and color. The new version has a darker blue color on the cap, the logo and the lettering are also in blue.

This is not important, but I have to point the taglines out… I mean, “Shining in the sun.”??? Maybe the Ultra Violette Extreme Screen can claim this with their glitters, but this sunscreen? “Radiant. Free. Now and into the future.” This sounds like an enlightened cult slogan, lol.

The Sunscreen Feel

What’s better in the new Skincare Milk N:

  • It holds up better during sports and sweaty sessions.
  • Felt less drying on the skin.

What’s not so great about the new Skincare Milk N:

  • The fragrance is more prominent, and I liked it less (though some people might think otherwise).

That’s about it actually, not much difference you can feel on the skin.

Now, should you buy the new one?

  • Of course! If you haven’t tried this sunscreen, go with the latest one.
  • BUT, currently the older version has some discounted price (even at 50% off sometimes), then it’s totally fine to get the older one too. I had a backup purchased before I know about the new release, and the expiry date for the older one is May 2023. Enough time to finish the sunscreen!

Hold up better during sports than the previous version.

It’s not the one with the highest UVA, not the least irritating, nor without a white cast, but it takes the crown as best finish ever.

Anessa Skincare Milk 2022 Review: Verdict

skincare rating

Anessa Skincare Milk Perfect UV Sunscreen SPF50+ 2022 edition review: Still my favorite sunscreen in the market because it’s very pleasant to wear and gives the skin a silky smooth feeling afterwards. Yes, there are a few downsides: some white cast, (more) difficult to get in Europe, price, and the scent. But I’m willing to compromise because for my 5 minute skincare routine, this is just the one sunscreen I would prefer to wear any day.

Have you tried this sunscreen? Is it on your wishlist? Let me know if you have more questions in the comments! Xoxo, Astrid.
