New year, new brands? Absolutely! Kora Organics has been around since 2009, and is co-founded by supermodel Miranda Kerr. The whole range is manufactured in Australia. Products are made from a blend of natural and certified-organic ingredients. I tried two of her hero products – here’s the Kora Organics Noni Glow review!

Why Was I Interested

I have heard about the brand before, but had dismissed it, because it is not something that is easily available in where I live (Berlin). Two things then came together: Douglas.de started to carry the brand. At around the same time, I happened to tune in to the Glossy Beauty Podcast interviewing Miranda Kerr, the model / founder of Kora Organics. It made me super intrigued with her brand.

I’m not her fan per se, but her passion in building Kora Organics really shone in the interview. You could feel how passionate she is about the brands’ philosophy. In it, she told how she researched and developed them with so much love and care, and how she invested her own money and much of her own resource to it. She is also set on using clean and organic ingredients as something that would help the skin rejuvenate.

She was so passionate talking about the main ingredients in the product, noni fruit, which turned out to be something that she has been using forever, and seeing her glowy skin, one can’t help but wonder if one would get the same effect from the product.

True, some of her methods are a bit out there (like the rose quartz – if you’re not a believer in crystals’ theory like I am). But I figured, there’s no real harm in trying a good skin care product with great ingredients made with love (Miranda actually said this too, ha!).

Which Products Did I Choose

To start with, I decided to go for the star product, the most hyped/liked product, the Noni Glow Face Oil. Glow is also something that I actually need at the moment. It’s a blend of noni extract and bunch of good oils. Then, I was intrigued with the Noni Glow Face Balm, which Miranda touted as a great product for a skin pick-me-up. I figured in Berlin winter, I would totally need one.

Noni is, btw, the oil made from the seeds of the Noni tree, related to coffee plants. It’s also called Indian Mulberry, and has been used in traditional medicine.

Other things I would be interested in (but haven’t bought), is the turmeric mask. I know from Javanese tradition that turmeric is good for the skin, and I’m interested in seeing if this would have the same effect in an easier to use product.

What do I think of it

Noni Glow Face Oil review
The chic dropper bottle – Noni Glow Face Oil.

I have been using oils for a while now. I started with Pai’s Rosehip Oil (good – here’s Dorit’s review), and used The Ordinary Rosehip Oil (better and affordable). The Ordinary Marula Oil I ended up using not on my face but on my hair, and The Ordinary Borage Seed Oil was moisturizing, but the smell was awful.

I have to say Kora Organics Noni Glow Seed Oil is the nicest of them all. While I could not prove scientifically that it’s better on my skin than the other oils… I could say that:

  • It smells very nice, and from the list of ingredients, I would attribute it also to a blend of oils in the formula (there are some lavender and jasmine oils).
  • My skin absorbs the oil very nicely. I did not get the “oily” feeling except for a few first minutes, after that, it’s just glowing!
  • My skin reacts very well to it, it does feel softer in the morning when I am wearing it before bed.

So far, I think this is my favorite oil and I will repurchase it when this bottle ran out.

Noni Glow Face Balm review
The balm comes as a stick, which is quite handy and hygienic to apply.

This one – I don’t know. It feels really slick on me. I don’t see how she called it “glow” because on me it’s basically “sticky and oily”. I waited till winter to see if this would work well. For the most part, it didn’t, except for when the weather turned really cold and dry. Then it became a good moisturizer touch-up throughout the day.

It also should work for any part of the face and body, including the lips. It works well as a glorious lip balm for me and I’m carrying it with me on the go, hence finally found a good purpose with it.

I wondered though if my dislike was perhaps because one of the main ingredients in this product is coconut oil? My skin just doesn’t absorb it well. I had high hopes and the thought of bringing it on the plane for my next tropics getaway, but I also read reviews that this is really not the product to bring to a hot tropical climate because it could melt in your purse.

Will I try other products from Kora Organics? Most likely! I’d say they are good products. Just perhaps for me personally, not the ones with coconut oil for the body :).
