August best beauty finds (and more): a budget mango-scented lip product, and, also beautiful: an uncrowded summer travel destination!

I’ve been on an absolute lip oil high since they reached the drugstores this year. Aaaaaand – a LOT have been absolute duds. (Please, brands: just because you’ve got a clear, glossy formula it’s not automatically an oil tyvm.)

But finally, FINALLY I’ve found another great budget lip oil (that’s quite a close dupe to Dior’s lip oil, too)! (The first great one is from NYX, obviously, but this is better.)

bh cosmetics’ Juicy Gossip Lip Oil

bh cosmetics’ Juicy Gossip Lip Oil suffers from a stupid name, the brand now being affiliated with Makeup Revolution and accessibility. They launch products willy-nilly and good luck finding out when and where. And then, it’s Makeup Revolution with its barrage of its own problems. But! Butbutbutbut! The lip oil is so good.

The goss is HOT! Get ready to spill major tea in the Juicy Gossip Lip Oils.
Drench your lips in a sheer wash of wet, mouth-watering color. The two-toned, ombre gloss-oil formula is infused with Vitamin E and fruit extracts, leaving your lips feeling lusciously supple and hydrated.
Available in 4 two-toned shades and scents!
Watermelon.
Mango.
Candy Cherry.
Coconut.
Vegan. Cruelty-Free. Clean Ingredients.

I’d advise to choose the oil whose taste/scent you think you like the most, because boy, it’s strong, and IT STAYS. According to that, I chose Mango, which gives my lips a hint off warmth, and an incredible plush, moisturized feel. It’s incredible. For $7, how can you NOT?!

I wish they’d come out with more colours, because I despise both watermelon and cherry scented anything, and so the one I can still buy is the clear one (coconut).

Beautiful in August: Riga

Let’s all groan at the upcoming pun, but while the next thing isn’t exactly beauty-related, it’s truly beautiful and well-worth your time: Riga!

Riga summer tips

We went to Riga (Latvia) for a quick getaway on my birthday weekend. It wasn’t as boiling hot as other European destinations, and flies still a bit under the radar, tourism-wise. Latvia is an European Union member, so for us it’s an incredibly easy travel destination. Riga is a very walkable city, and here’re my top three things to do:

Upon arrival, have a meal at 3 Pavaru (meaning ‘three chefs’), and after that, blissfully explore the old medieval city center without the tourists that fill it during the day. (It’s still relatively uncrowded, but it’s a capital, it’s summer, and there’re tourists.) Next day, do a free walking tour whose guides are both deeply knowledgeable and hilarious, and get to know the city’s history. (Latvia was a part of Germany, Poland, Sweden and the Soviet Union in the past, and all of that shows.) Then, walk through the Art Nouveau quarter around Alberta Street where you will also find a lot of cute cafes. Have a coffee at Kalve, Rocket Bean or Miit, and then slowly browse along the canal while enjoying life. If you have time, use one day to go to the seaside, or visit one of the Medieval Castles about one hour away from Riga.
