These are the geekiest posts ever, I promise you! But then, I’m a (beauty) geek, and get a kick out of the strangest things – an overview of all of 2016’s new lipstick lines, for example! Or a powder that’s tailored to your skin, and yours alone – from the 1950s. Or why everyone on TV has the same hair. Really! They have! You just haven’t noticed it! Have a look at September’s best beauty blogposts!

Beauty

  • A natural makeup look – we all immediately know what that’s supposed to look like, right? You’ll be surprised, though, how different that concept is in different countries. Byrdie asked around in seven countries all around the world, on all continents – and what’s supposed to look natural in, say, Asia, isn’t natural at all in Australia.
  • Just imagine, in the 1950s you could casually stroll into beauty salon and let an employee of cosmetics’ brand Charles of the Ritz let mix your own bespoke powder, made from different colours (reminds you of Guerlain, huh?). I wish we could have that kind of experience again today! (Make sure you watch the video embedded in the article.)
  • Every actress on TV seems to have the same hair. But why?! racked investigates!
  • Estée Lauder lost quite a bit of sales in the last months and blames social and political issues both in Europe and ‘emerging markets’ (I guess that means Russia and Asia). Well, what about bringing out better and more interesting things, EL? Not just more of the same? Maybe then more people would buy?
  • Other industry news, courtesy of Jane from BBB – lots of interesting tidbits in there! Especially interesting because I just read Lisa Eldridge’s Facepaint (there’s a review coming soon!) – Revlon bought Elizabeth Arden. Such time-honoured companies!
  • Labmuffin explains why the FDA in the USA just banned anti-bacterial soap. Interesting and easy to read!
  • Kate from Morelikespace has a lot to say about all the companies that came out with their huuuuuuuuge revamped lipstick lines this year. 100 and more new lipsticks seem to become a new trend. Go big or go home, eh? Head over to hear her opinion about them!

Lifestyle

  • Ooops, everybody and their kitchen sink (and you too!) have been using bobby pins in the wrong way. Me included. (But then I’m a total idiot when it comes to hair anyway.)
