March best beauty finds without the ‘and more’. What can I say, it was a lackluster month. Not for SOME beauty products, though!

Balea Beauty expert hydration toner

March best beauty finds

I’ve mentioned the balea hydration toner a few times in passing before. By now, I’ve finished two bottles since it was released last year.

Ingredients: 2% Panthenol and 0,2% Allantoin, with a lot of amino acids, different forms of hyaluronic acid and some urea.

It really is hydrating, has a simple, water-like texture, and that for less money than a coffee at Starbucks (3,95 €). It’s available in European countries at drugstore chain dm (more here).

For a hydration boost after your cleanse you really can’t go wrong with this one. I love it, and use it with abandon. The only downside is the packaging. The cap has a tendency to get stuck, and I’d prefer a spray bottle . But honestly, who would’ve thought to find something that good and non-sensitizing at a German drugstore?!

Shaving my face

March best beauty finds

It’s a weird thing that there’s a nearly visceral reaction to people when you’re telling them, as a woman, that you’re shaving your face. On the other hand, when you’re telling them you’re dermaplaning, it’s cool. Whatever you’re calling it, I’ve recently started doing it.

I realized that I had a bit more peach fuzz on my cheeks than I was comfortable with, especially because powder and powder foundation tended to cling to the fine hairs.

As with all kinds of female body hair, there’s a ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’-thing going on. There’s truly only one solution to that. Do what makes YOU comfortable, other voices be damned.

How to

I entered into the whole thing with a lot of trepidation, watched some YouTube videos (here and here), bought some simple razors and did it. And: I LOVE the result, especially because my skin feels so incredibly smooth, it’s insane. I totally get why people do it as a treatment at an esthetician’s! I can’t imagine how soft your skin would feel after that. (They do it with a scalpel. Please don’t use a scalpel at home.)

Here’re a few pointers: buy a drugstore razor for the first time, because they tend not to be as sharp as more expensive razors. Second, watching a video first was really helpful! For me, it’s easier to replicate something I’ve seen on video, instead figuring out how a 45° degree angle looks like. Third, personally I’d always NOT go for dry shaving, especially if you have sensitive skin. I use my cleansing oil, and that works fine. Fourth, use a pampering skincare routine afterwards, and do it in the evening so your skin can calm down over night.

And with that, we’re done. See you on Thursday for March’s beauty news!
