A dark, goth Wednesday Addams lip, various fragrances and a fould-mouthed, Irish actress?! Have a look at my delightful March beauty favourites and general faves!

A dark, glossy lip

Wearing Melt Lip Pencil in Familia, topped with Dior Lip Oil

I’m into the Wednesday Addams school of dark lips right now. Different to Wednesday, I like the ultra-wet look, though (you might call that sticky, just a heads up!).

And here’re the three products I’ve been using the whole month on and off in different combos – Melt Cosmetics’ Lip Pencil in Familia, a blackened plum from their Amor y Mariposas collection (it’s on sale right now!). It’s a conventional wooden pencil, but the formula and colour are right up my alley. The colour, on the right side of goth purple, and the texture that’s creamy, but still gives you a sharp line if you desire. I line my lips, create some kind of gradient by smudging it towards the middle of my lips, and then top the whole thing with a lip oil.

I don’t discriminate: I either use the luxury Dior Lip Glow Oil, or the budget ‘dupe’ (not really, but you know how products get blown up on TikTok) by Nyx. The Nyx fat oil lip drip in That’s Chic, btw, also gives off Clinique Black Honey vibes, if that’s your thing.

It’s not as high maintenance as it sounds: it wears off nicely instead of turning you into a murder clown face with lipstick all over.

Perfume samples

March best beauty finds

I LOVE sampling new perfumes. But that’s an expensive habit – I simply can’t go and buy new fragrances every time I feel I need a new scent. Fragrance sampling services are great for that (e.g. Essenza Nobile, Luckyscent), but also having friends with whom I can swap samples every now and then.

During the last month, that enabled me to form an opinion on German fragrance indie brand Valjues. (Absolutely and utterly not for me: too much Iso E Super, too much pretentious fragrance speak about molecules). Then there’s Gris Dior that’s sadly a bit out of my price range. I want to bathe in it, ttbt: it’s right up my alley with its rose – bergamot – woody – ambery notes. And finally, Milky Musk by Parle Moi de Parfum. It’s a sandalwood musk combo that’s utterly addictive in its simplicity. The sandalwood keeps it from being a simple fabric softener scent, and the musk keeps the sandalwood from being to masculine and pungent. It’s cosy and I love it.

Other pleasures

Since I’ve started to dip my toes into pottery last year (you might have seen some bowls pop up as props in pics on the blog), I’ve watched all seasons of The Great Pottery Throwdown repeatedly. As a pottery beginner, though, trying to copy some of the pieces shown?! Ill advised. You wouldn’t try to bake a three-tiered wedding cake after watching The Great British Bake Off, right?! Trust me on both counts: impossible. (No, don’t ask me why I know that.)

What’s more, the utterly delightful Siobhan McSweeney presents the show – you might know her as Sister Michael from Derry Girls (also delightful). She’s not only funny as heck, but her personal style?! Amazeballs. Her. Makeup. Is. On. Point. (Tying us neatly in the purpose of this post: showing you delightful beauty products. Thank you for everything, see you next time!)
