As always, these are all products I tried in 2022 for the first time, not products that were released in 2022. Here’s my best of 2022 skincare edition!

Skincare reviews – good skincare reviews! – take time. Whenever I start trialing a new product, I always try to introduce only one product into my routine at once, so I can gauge the effect on my skin as precisely as possible. And then, of course, I want to use a product for four weeks continuously at least. That means I can give you long-term effects and NOT first impressions, and that’s what counts in skincare, right?

That also means I can’t test a lot of products any given year – I just have one face, after all. Still, from the approx. 25 skincare products I reviewed extensively last year (including sunscreen), here’re the three products that immediately landed on my list of skincare products I always want to have in my stash.

PSA The Most

best of 2022 skincare

The best hyaluronic acid serum in a long line of hyaluronic acid serums I tried. It’s on the higher spectrum of price points, but comes with one incredible bonus point for me: it not only hydrates, but visibly plumps my skin. And is the only hyaluronic acid serum I’ve tried that’s ever done that.

It also comes with a few bonus ingredients (antioxidants, soothing ingredients) that makes it ideal for my summer routine, when it’s the only thing I use underneath my sunscreen. It’s great in winter too, and layers wonderfully underneath other serums and moisturisers. I think it works for all skin types, and can only urge you to try it. (Wait for deals on their homepage!) In my opinion, the most (hah!) underrated product from AOS/PSA.

PC Lip and Body Balm

skincare favorites of 2022

When I tried this unassuming balm for the first time in summer, I liked it for my perpetually dry lips. Now, in winter, it’s the best balm for nails and cuticles I’ve ever tried. It really makes my nails more supple, and while during summer, I didn’t really like the balmy, filmy feel on my nails, in winter, it’s heaven-sent.

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty, moisturizing balm without fragrance, look no further!

Eucerin Oil Control SPF50+

Eucerin Oil Control SPF50+ checklist

Yes, I know, I know! I’ve mentioned this one already in my post about my fave sunscreens of 2022 – but what can I say, the 2022 reformulated version is the best sunscreen I tried in 2022. I’d even say – it’s in my top three of my fave SPFs EVER. It’s really a staple: and that’s not only because of its modern filters that offer great broad-spectrum protection, but because of its ease of handling.

You know those sunscreens that you have to baby when you apply them, and then have to sit around for 30 minutes until they’ve properly absorbed? This isn’t one of those. I’ve never had any problems while applying, and then, bam – sunk in. Smooth, non-sticky finish. Done. It’s affordable, easy for me to buy (although in winter, the supply is somewhat diminished here in Germany) – and even my alcohol-sensitive skin isn’t too bothered with the high alcohol amount.
