ColourPop launched a Harry Potter collab, and the internet wasn’t happy. Christine from Temptalia sums it up.

One of the Lauder family is in the press again: for giving Trump the idea to buy Greenland. Please, do vote in the Midterms, y’all in the US. (NYT)

Beauty products are getting more expensive, and companies are happy that consumers are still buying undeterred. (Bloomberg)

Brad Pitt, his new skincare line, and the problems. (Whenever I hear that somebody cites Goop as an inspiration, I run for the hills. Also, having a team that can differentiate between preservatives and conservatives is a plus when you want to sell 300$ serums. Ahem.) (Vanity Fair)

Speaking of new brands: Lauder acquired the license rights to launch Balmain Beauty (in 2024). Do we – need that?! Another luxury line?! (Nobody I know is interested in Valentino Beauty, for example. Are you?)

Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder lawsuit just took a really sinister turn: they declared bankruptcy on one of their subsidiaries, so slipping out of litigation. (The New Yorker)

In a bid to save cruelty free cosmetics in the EU, 1.4 million people signed a petition. (Cosmeticsbusiness)

Beauty Stories

what happened in beauty September 2022

I would’ve loved to write Allure’s story about Augustinus Bader (I tried, years ago), but for a simple blogger it’s really difficult to get access to the people Allure talked to. Nevertheless, it’s a great (and very well-researched) read, and I’m happy that we both did come to the same conclusion.

Again, fragrance has a problem due to EU legislature: “The Chemicals Strategy of EU’s Green New Deal aims to ban the most harmful chemicals in consumer products – allowing their use only where essential.” The thing is, apparently perfumes aren’t essential?! It would be nice if science-education would be a thing, and the difference between risk and hazard most of all. (Olfiction)

Dopamine beauty is a thing! Yay! Let’s all get out our most colourful palettes! (Cosmeticsbusiness)

Did you know that the woman who invented the Scrunchie belonged to the Revlon clan? (NYT)

Shein and its undying appeal, no matter the cost. (NYT)

How to sell your handbags – a guide. (Fashionista)

Marriage sabbaticals are a thing (whomever I talked to about this: if they were married longer than five years, their eyes lit up immediately.) (Guardian)
