Releases (both skincare and makeup) are aplenty, but stuff to get really excited about?! That’s rare. You won’t find the newest from Chanel here, nor from Clionadh. I don’t talk about Spring collections, but about the little things that make me excited, because they bring something new to the table. Have a peek of the best Spring beauty releases: you’ll find exciting products from Nars, Athr, Briogeo and more.
Beauty Spring releases: Make-Up
Nars Light-Reflecting Foundation
A staple in my makeup routine since it launched: Nars’ Light-Reflecting Powder. (No, I don’t want to know when that was, exactly. Centuries ago, it feels like.) The new foundation promises a skincare-makeup hybrid with a natural finish that smooths and blurs and has a weightless finish. Comes in 36 shades, with a medium coverage. $49. I want to try this. Now.
Glam Shop Chrystal eyeshadows
The Chrystal eyeshadow formula is the only one that really piqued my interest, although Glam Shop has been steadily releasing new eyeshadows: a wet, smooth and foiled looking finish. The colour scheme is rather neutral, with a strong silvery shine. Price right now is 4,75€.
Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Primer
This one had me at “airbrush”. Who wouldn’t want to look airbrushed, and at the same time had an extended foundation wear time and oil-control?! This sounds like it’s supposed to do all and comes with a high price point to match: but I can’t help but being curious. It’s $56.
Athr Eyeshadow Palette
While the palette pic looks rather boring, what did it for me were the swatches on sustainably-conscious brand Athr’s site: the colour story combines greenish golds, neutrals, and pops of pink. There’s even one duochrome. Love it. $48. (Stupidly, I can’t find it in Europe right now: you can get it at Sephora.com, Credo and their own site.)
Sephora Charged Up Liquid Eyeshadow
I’m a fan of a lot of Sephora Collection products: the waterproof eye pencils are the best, the lip creams really nice, and for a one-and-done eyeshadow, these new liquid shadows look very appealing. Coming in 12 shades, the launch has neutrals with pops of pinks and purples, and for 10$, I’ll try at least one when they launch in Germany.
Beauty Spring releases: Hair & Fragrance
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Nuit Eau de Parfum
At this point I guess I’ll own every BG iteration on the planet someday, so I’ll just give this one a sniff when it launches. (Let me just say that I do find it very strange that a supposedly summer collection launches in Jan/Feb, but you do you, Lauder!) Top notes are Pepper, Bergamot and Ylang-Ylang; middle notes are Salt, Coconut, Jasmine Sambac and Orchid; and base notes are Ambroxan, Tonka Bean and Cashmere Wood per Fragrantica.
Briogeo Rice Water Protein + Moisture Strengthening Treatment
I really liked the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! mask I used on my colour treated hair. I used a lot of products since, and have to admit: nothing came close. The new rice water treatment is for people with dry, chemically treated, damaged, lifeless hair, and it’s supposed to dramatically strengthen your strands. My hair is a complete catastrophe right now, so: I definitely give this a try.
Beauty Spring releases: Skincare
Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser
Yeah, Hyaluronic Acid in a gel-like formula that’s supposed to remove makeup and sunscreen, and also hydrate for 48hrs?! I mean, yes, please?! I’m always on the hunt for a new hydrating cleanser that still, you know, cleanses. (My latest fave does that really well, but omg!1pricey!)
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid
Yup, it’s back after 2 years. Yes, it’s reformulated. Yes, there’s supposedly a waiting list of 400.000 people. It’s still a watery solution with 2% Salicylic Acid, 30ml, that retails for $6. Out now. You’re welcome.
Paula’s Choice exfoliant (Germany)
I’ve honestly no idea why this took so long, but the Skin Perfecting 25% AHA + 2% BHA Exfoliant-Peeling was launched last year in the US is finally launching in Europe. I’m excited for the purple wash-off mask, supposedly more gentle than other peeling masks, although it will be a rather pricey 44€ over here. (Other peeling masks I tried: PSA and The Ordinary)
