I know, the Fenty Beauty Moroccan Spice Eyeshadow Palette has been out for more than a year. As a beauty addict and a Fenty fan, it might sound weird that I just recently got it. Because it is the perfect palette for my skin tone.

To my defense, I wanted to use more of what I have and eyeshadow palette are notoriously difficult to finish (look here for how long it takes for someone to finish their beauty product). The Fenty Beauty Morrocan Spice is a palette that seemed easy to dupe, at least on the first swatch. If you are a beauty junkie, chances are you might feel like you already have these colors already on your stash, and that was also my first thoughts.

But then, Sephora Germany has a sale (and I am weak 😉 ).

Why Fenty Beauty Morrocan Spice Palette is Perfect for Me

What I took for granted is, this palette is one that is designed by someone of my skin tone (Rihanna), and as I have a similar skin tone, And that made a truly different experience for me.

Maybe you don’t really get what I am saying. And you’re thinking that it doesn’t really matter who designed it and what the model looks like because you’ve seen the swatches and it works for multiple skin tones. That is a valid point because usually, when I like the colors of the palette, and it swatches well on my skin tone, then I will find a way to wear it.

I have been doing that for my whole life. I can work a cool-toned palette, a bright-toned palette, a warm-toned palette, and the universally loved palette, a palette that features only white models in the promo.

BUT. Hear me out. As someone who is still underrepresented in the beauty industry. This has been an eye-opener. Because every shade in this palette is just so easy for me to work with.

Shades Wearability

Normally, white and pink shades like Mo’rockin Ice (iridescent icy pink with pink shimmer) and Sahara Stunna (soft pink gold pearl) are difficult for me to work with. In this palette, both shades have the right amount of warm-toned shimmers that it is perfect just as it is.

There are also, of course, shades that just look great with my skin tone, like Desert Baked (metallic copper bronze), Spice Trip (matte burnt sienna), Cumin Get It (matte terracotta).

Shades Versatility

The palette is very easy to use since it seemed the diagonal colors really work well together. You can do a pop of color with shades like Evil Genie (turquoise pearl) or Saffron (matte brick red).

The Good and The Not-So-Good

By the time of writing this blog post, I have been using the palette for more than a month. It is also the only eyeshadow palette I am using at this moment, although partially for the research purpose. Here are my conclusions.

The Good with Moroccan Spice Eyeshadow Palette

  • The colors work very well for medium tan skin tone, and I don’t see why it won’t work with other skin tones.
  • The color combinations are amazing. One can do neutral looks, some pop of colors, minimalist looks, and smokey eyes.
  • Consistency is mostly good across the shades (details of the not-so-good in the other list).
  • Easy to use, nicely organized color combination.
  • I would be happy to take this palette along on a longer vacation (or a short one).

The Not-So-Good with Moroccan Spice Eyeshadow Palette

  • I’m not a fan of the packaging, the plastic feels a bit cheap and it gets too easily smudged with fingerprints.
  • While the overall consistency is nice, Casablanca (peach gold with gold simmer) tends to have shimmer fallout, and some of the matte shades like Shisa Smoke (matte blue gray) and Henna Sea (matte cocoa brown) could look patchy when applied.

Should You Get This Palette?

Definitely yes if you have a similar skin tone as I am. I wear MAC NC42/44, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 8, Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation 330. Even when you already have similar colors as this palette, it’s a totally new level for my skin tone.

Yes! if you like the color in this palette. It’s such a great palette to work with, great consistency across the shades, reasonably priced, and so many variations you can do with it.

Probably not if you only look good in cool colors, just because there aren’t so many combinations you can do with this palette. That being said, if you like the colors, you can always go for it.

The palette sells for 51,95€ at sephora.de and $59 at fentybeauty.com.
