So you want an office-appropriate, but non-boring lipstick? I’ve got you covered! It’s nude-ish, matte, and has a nice little twist (plus, it doesn’t break the bank). Let’s dive in!

Aaaaah, the office. A place fraught with danger for a beauty lover. I mean, I had once a colleague who’d ask why on earth I’d need THREE eyeshadows when one would totally be enough? Then I had the one who’d always snarkily compare me to a panda whenever I’d wear a smokey eye… And, in that vein, my pro tip for you: NEVER, absolutely never disclose the name of your fragrance in a room full of tech support guys when said fragrance is Lush’s Silky Underwear. Ahem.

My latest, work-appropriate find is absolutely safe, though – the best office-friendly neutral lipstick!

Lip swatch time! Sephora Frosted Rose Cream Lip Stain (61)

Don’t let the name fool you, it’s neither frosted, nor rose. I’ve got pretty pigmented lips, and on me, this reads as a slightly metallic MLBB shade. I’d describe it as a slightly plummy, coppery rosewood. Definitely metallic, but nothing over the top. It just gives the shade an interesting twist. It also makes the colour lean a bit cooler. If you’re very pale, this could be a pretty strong colour on you. Likewise, if you’re quite dark (every skintone that’s darker than MAC’s NC/NW45), I *think* this would be ashy on you.

Application?

Easy. It’s a flocked doe foot applicator that’s comfortable and wields a pretty even application.

Swatch time, part 2! Sephora Frosted Rose Cream Lip Stain (61)

It’s rather thin, which makes it good or bad, depending on your point of view. It feels a bit watery, and just one swipe made me definitely want a higher coverage, so I went for a second layer. Don’t be afraid to layer it, though – it layers well, with no weird balling and pilling happening. The lightweight feeling on the lips may be a deal-breaker for some – I don’t mind it either way. You don’t feel any grittiness when you press your lips together, and the overall appearance is very smooth. It lasts quite a decent time, too – around half a day when I’m only talking and drinking. A whole meal will kill it, though. It’s also not transfer-proof.

Where can I get it?

Sephora! It’s from their own brand, and rings up at 11€ (D)/14$ (US). It’s a rather smallish tube, though – it’ll be easy to breeze through this one.

Sephora cream lip stain metal review
The best office-friendly neutral lipstick: Sephora Frosted Rose Cream Lip Stain (61)!

Definitely! It’s exactly the one metallic matte lip that’s great for dipping one’s toe into the trend, and isn’t too over the top. (Nevertheless, I think it would look smashing paired with a smokey eye for evenings.) The formula is good, the price point is good, and the colour isn’t your run of the mill metallic bronze, copper, or burgundy. So, recommended!
