In this week’s edition of twindlytuesday, I want to share the most interesting blogposts I read last month. Beauty hacks, industry news, pretty travel pictures and more!

Beauty

I really love a good DIY (as you can see here and here), and this tutorial how to make a DIY lash serum made me curious!

Beauty trends are very much a cultural thing. Here’re some things that are a trend not only in the US, but in parts of the Western world as well, that seem weird to other cultures. (And the longer you think about them, you’ll start to find them weird as well.)

Bluebell has a very good storage recommendation for MAC lipsticks.

Sometimes I feel like every week, another ingredient in cosmetics is flagged up as potentially harmful. ALU has a good post about the latest scare in the nailpolish world (it’s called tphp). I also enjoyed reading the discussion that ensued in the comments about scare tactics by lobbyist groups that managed to stay polite.

On the same topic, this made me laugh for all the wrong reasons: Help, my nailpolish is making me fat, or, how not to write about scientific studies.

British Beauty Blogger puts together the best posts about beauty industry news. I always enjoy a peek behind the curtain, and this one is particularly interesting with its news about stand-alone luxury beauty stores, Michelle Phan, and Dior!

Beauty hacks – who doesn’t love to read those kind of posts?! I’ve used tape to gently remove glitter from my already made-up face for ages, so I’m totally on board with that, but I find 7) a bit weird to be honest!

Other stuff

I’m so not a fashionista, but I love Go Fug Yourself for my daily fix of snarky writing and celebrity and clothes ogling. I also enjoyed the latest book of Heather and Jessica, the masterminds behind GFY, a lot. So I’m really happy that said book (The Royal We) is now made into a movie – and I hope, along with the Washington Post, that it’ll be made into a very good movie.

I’ll visit China next year for the first time, and these pictures made me even more excited!

A very, very successful social media phenomenon, and the question about the reality it depicts and the randomness of success on social media – questions that don’t centre around Essena O’Neil and Instagram, but Humans of New York and their latest book. An in-depth review.
