Let’s look at some ‘glowy’ and ‘dewyful’ lip tints from peripera and Romand and see how they compare (and if they’re worth your money). Join me in my glowy lip tints comparison!

I used to LOVE K-Beauty lip products when I lived in Asia. They were so fun: experimental formulas, wearable colours, comfortable textures. They also fall in the category ‘cheap treats’ while never feeling cheap.

But where is the tint?!

My absolute favourites from years ago were peripera’s inks – a stain, either in a glossy or velvet formula. So, when recently I decided to throw some of their newer products in my basket when I was shopping for skincare on YesStyle and Stylevana, I was sure I was buying some winners. Ehhhhhhhhhh…

Peripera Ink Mood Glowy Tint (03 Rose in Mind)

peripera ink mood glowy tint review

Moist lightweight texture that comfortably drenches lips with a glowy shine that feels fresh and non-sticky.

Peripera

4g/ 0.14 oz. (around 8$)

With a weird lemon-cookie scent/taste this applies glossy with a weird pastel-peachy undertone that thankfully darkens quickly. I was shocked at first – be prepared for your lipcolour to oxidise like a foundation! Then, it becomes a subtle MLBB shade.

While this feels great while applying (lush, fresh, and, indeed, glowy), and DOES look very glossy when freshly applied, this effect doesn’t last long. The formula wears off quickly when eating or drinking and becomes tacky. It doesn’t leave a stain. Maybe the darker colours do? It wears off very evenly, though, and for such a lightweight formula, the staying power is two or three hours max.

I find it faintly moisturizing, but it’s a formula I don’t enjoy particularly. If I want glossy, there’re better glosses out there, and if I want more colour, the Inks are definitely more satisfying with the stain they leave behind.

Rom&nd dewy-ful water tint (12 canyon)

Romand dewyful water tint in canyon

Boost the color with a glossy glow! A dewy-ful& long-lasting lip tint that forms like a welcome rain on my lips.

Rom&nd

5g (between 7-10$)

One of the biggest positives of this lip tint is the aesthetically pleasing packaging and the great MLBB colour. The tint goes on super glossy, with a feeling that’s really very fresh and dewy. It leaves a slick residue on your lips that still dries down somewhat. The lips at that point (about one hour after application) look still somewhat glowy, but not glossy. The formula has definitely broken down, and a bit of colour remains. I really can’t see a stain.

The formula is neither drying nor moisturizing, and I’m somewhat confused. WHAT is this for, exactly? When wearing it, you’re neither wearing a glossy lip (because the glossiness breaks down quickly), nor do you get a stain. Its shine wears off without the benefit of moisturizing your lips.

It has a weird floral scent/taste that dissipates quickly, thankfully.

Peripera Ink Mood Glowy Balm (04 Mauve Promenade)

peripera glowy balm mauve promenade review

A lightweight, moisture-rich balm keep lips hydrated with a dewy lip expression.

Peripera

3.2g/ 0.11 oz. (around 10$)

With my love of all things glossy, balmy and rich, this seemed like an absolute no-brainer. A balm! With colour! What can go wrong?!

Well, quite a lot actually.

First is the absolute obnoxious smell/taste that reminds me of Hermès’ lip products – that’s not a good thing. Hermès adds a real fragrance fragrance to perfume their lipsticks and balms, and that results in feeling like you’re eating perfume whenever you wear those. (Not that that hindered me to go for the new collection, but I digress.)

So. This smells like old lady perfume, and it’s bad. It lingers.

I chose one of the darkest colours, and actually, the colour it has on my lips is neglectable. It’s there, but it’s a hint. A mauve hint. And I wouldn’t mind so much if the balm would actually be moisturizing. You’ve. To. Do. SO. Many. Passes for this to actually see and feel something on your lips. We’re speaking of about 10.

If you do that, yup, some colour, some glow. Do only one or two swipes, it doesn’t look dewy. Again, I’m reminded of Hermes balms: they’ve got a somewhat matte finish by design, and this definitely reminds me of them: scent, texture, finish and all.

You’ve probably detected already that this product annoys the shit out of me, and you’re right: we have a scent I don’t like, the barest hint of colour, a finish that’s neither glossy nor matte, and a texture that’s just THERE, neither moisturizing nor drying. Peripera I expected so much better from you. I honestly don’t know what to make of this.

Conclusion?

Weirdly, I chose MLBB colours of the tints that are so similar, I’d consider them dupes. If you’re intrigued by the formula, I can’t recommend one over the other: I also can’t really see the point of them. Both tints feel initially fresh and glossy, but wear off quickly and don’t leave a stain. They also don’t feel moisturizing. That means I can’t wear them for hydration, nor for colour. Same with peripera’s balm that’s far away from having the characteristics of a balm that’s nourishing your lips. For me, the whole ‘glowy lip tint’ journey was a bust.
