Gifting can be exhausting. The Holiday season can be exhausting. So, have fun with this Holiday Gift Guide and use it as inspiration – or let it amuse you what I found trawling through the seas of the world wide web.

Honestly, this is one of my fave posts to write each year, because researching unusual, outrageous and sometimes straightforward WEIRD gifts is so much fun. I always look to strike a balance between ‘wait what’ and ‘OMG that’s amazing for Auntie Kate’, and, of course, maybe you just want to treat yourself. No shame in that, the Holidays are exhausting.

A word on links: I always try to link to reliable shops and also try to find shops shipping worldwide and I do that to the best of my abilities. I’m not responsible though for third-party sites I’m linking to.

I also can’t gauge the quality or functionality of the gifts in this post. I choose them because they looked great and fun. (Well, apart from the panettone. That one is truly great and was quickly devoured in my house last year.)

Holiday Gift Guide – Food

Panettone Fiasconaro

Sicilian company Panettone Fiasconaro specializes in Panettone without candied fruits, and also had the genius idea to partner with Dolce e Gabbana, so now you can shop for a deliciously fluffy cake-bread hybrid that honestly tastes divine (trust me on that) that looks hella impressive in its D&G tin. Expensive, but oh so good.

Holiday Gift Guide 2023 ideas

Imagine you want to host a get-together, but you’re drawing a blank for the cheeseboard theme. Because, obviously, it has to have a theme, duh! 50 cards will help with all kinds of spreads and boards, with cheese, charcuterie and more.

Frau Hansen christmas mug

Picture the scene: you, this mug and a hot chocolate with copious amounts of either amaretto or rum. Do I have to say more?!

Heretic Dirty Gingerbread Candle

Like a mug, a candle is kinda a standard gift. BUT! Has your giftee ever gotten a Dirty Santa or a Dirty Gingerbread Man candle?! Thought so. Also, they’re supposed to smell amazing, so move over, Diptyque!

Holiday Gift Guide 2023

Look, after a certain time together, it’s super easy to become a set of couch potatoes debating over what’s on the telly. If that’s your relationship status, you need 100 dates bucket list scratch poster that’ll give you and your significant other some much-needed inspo.

Clothes and accessories

Automic Gold custom ring

Prepare yourself for lots of personalized gifts, because I’m super into that. Case in point: my Longchamp bag that says WTH (they wouldn’t print WTF for me, the dingbats) and gives me a lot of joy every day. So. Why not gift a delicate gold (or silver) ring that says – well, I don’t know. It’s your present! Go wild! (I’d either chose NO or BYE right now.) Of course, Land’s Ends totes allow even more creative possibilities.

Uncommon Goods sweatshirt

For the person who won’t shut up about their pet, give them a sweater embroidered with their pet’s face. Not cheap, but leagues better than those socks on Temu (you know which ones I mean).

Tinykittens Hat

Speaking of pets: Canadian rescue TinyKittens has awesome merch, including a woolen hat that says ‘Feral’. I mean, I would only give that to people in my life who would get the joke, and not, say, my sister-in-law, but I know at least one of my friends who would laugh their head off when they unpack this one. Also, dear universe: I’d love to find this one in my stocking!

Beauty stuff

Unicorn Snot spf glitter

Sure, body glitter or suuuuuuper glittery lip gloss from a brand called Unicorn Snot will definitely fill a hole in many teenagers’ lives, but, as a blog that deals with A LOT of sunscreen, I feel I must highlight their Glitter Spritz with SPF35. Sun safety with added sparkle! (Not only for teenagers.)

Cadance customisable pots

I usually decant my skincare into a wild variety of Muji bottles whenever I travel. I wouldn’t be totally displeased (that means I’d be delighted) if someone would gift me a set of Keep Your Cadence’s gorgeous, magnetic and stackable ‘Capsules’. They come in a variety of colours and sizes and have a helpful online calculator so you’ll know how much of your moisturizer will fit into any given size. You can also (wait for it) personalize them. I’m in.

Papery things

WTF notebooks for holiday gift

Everybody needs a notebook or a calendar. No, really, they do, if only to pull them out and let strangers wonder about a book that says ‘Evil plans and unicorn drawings’, or ‘Things I only talk to my dog about’ or ‘Co-workers I suspect are vampires’ (!!!). Very customizable and very, very adorable.

Artropad calendar

I’ve no idea if that is garbage in real life, but it sure looks super cute: calendars or notepads that reveal a charming scene or building with each page you rip off. There’s not only Hogwarts, but also Sagrada Familia, Santorini or a tree covered in cherry blossoms. Let me know how it looks if you get one!

Still need inspo? Here’s the Holiday Gift Guide of 2022, 2021 and 2020.
