Glam Shop: new Turbo Glow, Glam Shadow and Velvet eyeshadows review! Also new to me: their glitter glue. Find swatches, looks and an extensive wear test below!

I became interested in Glam Shop at the beginning of the year. It’s a brand founded by a Polish influencer that has been buzzing a lot lately. I’m sincerely hoping that they become the next (European) Colourpop: they have unique formulas, and put out collection after collection lately. Plus, they’re really affordable and when they had their last sale, I was determined to get some eyeshadows from my wish list.

Glam Shop best single eyeshadows
Glam Shop new eyeshadows (at least to me) – I LOVE their new Velvet formula!

I’ve only ever tried their effect eyeshadows, and they’re good. Really good. I’d say that their shade Zyg Zak might be my fave of the year so far.

Here’re their single eyeshadow ranges:

(…) there’re three main types of shadows: pressed powder eyeshadows in three different formulas, Turbo Plus (pressed glitter), and the category we’re interested in: pressed pigments.
The pressed pigment range again comes in four different ranges – ‘Turbo pigments’, which are basically a rather big range of duochrome and generally effect eyeshadows. ‘Multichrome pigments’ are pressed multichrome eyeshadows, ‘Holo Pearls’ are holographic eyeshadows and their newest ‘Marble Eyeshadows’ are, from what I’ve seen, glittery duochromes.

Twindly: Glam Shop eyeshadows review

Since I wrote that three months ago, they’ve released two new lines: Velvet Eyeshadows that come in a matte/velvet formula with added shimmer, and multi-pastels, a pastel version of their duochrome/multichrome formula.

If you’re interested in Glam Shop single eyeshadows, Marte’s Makeup is the uncrowned queen of Glam Shop swatch vids and I found her swatches incredibly helpful.

Glam Shop GlamGlue

Glam Shop GlamGlue review

“GlamGLUE is an innovative eyeshadow base in a gel form, giving the effect of a wet eyeshadow. The base can be used on top of the completed eye makeup in order to add some pigment or glitter (it will not destroy the products applied underneath). Apply very thin layer and then cover it with eyeshadow, glitter, pigment or loose shadow for the highest intensity.”

I used to use Too Faced Glitter Glue for all my duochrome/multichrome eyeshadows and pigments. One of my issues with the Turbo Glow and Holo formula by Glam Shop was fallout, though. For that reason, I decided to try their own GlamGlue to use together with their shadows, and so far, I’m very happy about the result.

Glam Shop glitter glue comparison

While until now I mainly used eyeshadow primers and glitter glues based on silicone, this glitter glue has a water-based formula with a lot of alcohol that makes it very liquid. It comes with a doe foot applicator that I don’t like at all. It got dirty immediately when I tried it out, because I wasn’t able to keep it away from the transition colour I had already applied. (Now I just use my fingers.)

Glitter Glue comparison swatches
Not much difference with a highly reflective shadow as Clionadh’s Weld.

I also don’t like the feeling of alcohol evaporating on my skin, but other than that, it does what it says: it keeps shadows PUT. As with all forms of glitter glue, I had to learn how much to use: here, the thinner the layer, the less textured the finished eye will look. I always apply shadows over it with a finger.

You can see from the pictures above that the intensity isn’t changed, but the shimmer in Abracadabra seems much more vibrant and prominent.

Turbo Glow shadows in Laser and Tombac

Glam Shop eyeshadow in Tombac
Tombac

Turbo Glow is our best-selling range of pressed pigments. The shadows feature strong pigmentation and creamy consistency. It is a very expensive and unique composition, with incredibly strong light-reflecting properties and highly visible particles shimmering in multiple colours. Thanks to the unique consistency, the shadows can be applied onto bare skin, without any base, but in order to avoid fallout during the day, it is recommended to apply the GlamGLUE base first. Recommended application with a finger or a natural brush (…).

I’m always on the hunt for a neutral shadow with a twist. Tombac looks like a taupe-y brown with golden sparkles both on the Glam Shop site and in swatches I’ve seen. In person, it’s a nearly blinding very cool, very metallic golden brown that’s incredibly shiny and reflective. I had no issues with wear time over GlamGlue, but I still found it looked a bit textured on my not exactly young lids. After a whole day, I found some glitters under my eyes. I like it, but it’s not as special as I’d hoped.

Glam Shop eyeshadow in Laser
Laser

Laser is one of the most famous Glam Shop shadows. Everybody has it who has ever tried Glam Shop, and yes, it is indeed pretty. Special? You decide. It’s a lavender purple with an icy turquoise shift that applies very smoothly. Again, no problems when applied over GlamGlue – it wore well for a whole day without any fading or fallout issues.

Velvet eyeshadow in Abracadabra

Abracadabra

“VELOUR EYESHADOWS – our latest formula of shadows offering a shimmering effect on a matte or semi-matte colour base. You can use them to achieve soft and delicate result or build their intensity to the maximum. For best results use GlamGLUE as a base. Apply with a brush or a finger.”

Halo eye with Tombac in the middle of the eye and Abracadabra to the sides.

Abracadabra is absolutely not a shade I’m usually going for. I’m not the biggest green fan, but Abracadabra might change that. The base colour is a velvety muted yellow-green (what my mom would call Nile green), with a pink shimmer. The combo is incredibly pretty, lends itself easily both to a one-and-done or a very elaborate look.

Usually, those kinds of satin-based shadows with infused shimmer are a bitch, because the shimmer will fall out and end up on your cheekbones over the day, but here? Nothing. It looks wonderful. If I’d buy any new shades from Glam Shop, they would all be the Velvet formula. I’d apply it carefully with a finger over GlamGlue for maximum effect though – when I tried it with a brush, the shimmers got a bit lost.

1,5g is ca. 4,40€.

GlamShadow in Peculiar

Peculiar (also called Unikat on the website)

“A shimmering shadow in ULTRA PEARL formula. Buildable coverage and shine.  It can be applied with a brush or a finger. Recommended application on top of a concealer or the GlamGLUE base for 100% coverage and strong shine.”

I’ve honestly no idea what’s the difference between the Turbo Glow and the Ultra Pearl formula – both formulas are very, very shiny, and often come in duochrome or multichrome shades. Peculiar is very smooth, with a fine shimmer. The base colour is a warm coral that shifts from pink to icy blue. It’s a very pretty shade, even when it’s more of a common one. I didn’t have any problems with either fallout nor wear time.

Are you tempted? Or, if you kn ow Glam Shop already, what should I try?
