Whenever I see release info for new makeup and skincare nowadays, usually my first reaction is either ‘boring, pass’ or ‘wtf is that?!’. Rarely, really really rarely I’m genuinely excited about new launches and products. Here are the April beauty releases that really peaked my interest.

Essence Sanitizer Resistant top coat

(1,99€ at various drugstores)

Hold the door, a truly unique product, and it’s coming from a cheapie drugstore brand?! YES!!! If you’re a nail polish wearer, I’m sure you’ve realised in the last year that hand sanitizer makes your nail polish dull and prone to chipping. And while I heart hand sanitizer when I’m out and about, I’m not really in the mood to apply new polish every two days. Let’s hope that essence’s new top coat will make my nail polish more resistant. I’ll try it and report back!

Rose Hermès Silky Blush

April beauty releases
April beauty releases

(at their website from April 16th)

Call me a basic bitch as much as you like, but while Hermès prior launches of lipsticks left me rather cold, their upcoming launch of six powder blushes, two powder brushes and a trio of lip balms gives me butterflies in my stomach. Yes, it’s insanely expensive (powder blushes will be around 68€, lip balms 64€ and the long-handled brush is 115€, while the travel brush is 48€ *thud*), but it’s also inanely pretty. I don’t expect that the quality matches the price, but right now I love looking at the promo pics – it’s so artistically pleasing!

cosrx Advanced Snail Hydrogel Eye Patch

(around 20€, sold out at their website atm)

Lately, I’m super into those kind of hydrogel eye patches. And while the Shangpree ones are rather luxuriously priced, cosrx’s seem a bit more palatable for my early morning puffiness. I usually get up and let the patches do their thing while I have my tea, and this promises to hydrate, plump and brighten. cosrx rarely steers me wrong – on the list this goes! (Available at Yesstyle, StyleKorean)

Lethal Cosmetics Glitch liquid multichrome eyeshadows

April beauty releases

(between 21-24€ on their website, available at other retailers soon)

Confession: Astrid and I already made an order, and will review two of the shades asap! There’re six shades in total, three darker ones that will have a dark base, and three Spring-y lighter ones. They’re bigger than Natasha Denona’s Chromium eyeshadows, and also slightly cheaper. I’m excited, because, duh, multichromes!!!

NYX Lift N Snatch Brow Tint Pen

(at various retailers)

Leave it to NYX to release really good dupes of exorbitantly priced eyebrow products. Case in point: their Micro Brow Pencil is a great dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Brow Wiz. Now out is their version of the Brow Pen. It comes in 9 shades at the much more palatable price of 12€.

Hourglass Vanish Blush Stick

April beauty releases

(six shades, at their website)

Okay, so totally not up my alley, BUT: as it looks like Hourglass starts to get their act together and releases shades that cater to darker skintones. Progress, at last. Cream to powder formula, with a ‘seamless’, ‘natural’, finish; for 49€.

Olaplex No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask

(around 30€ at various retailers)

With the brand’s patented bond-building technology, this mask is supposed to repair damaged strands. I usually feel that Olaplex’s routine is too complicated for me, but a mask? That’s something I can do, and I can also remember that I’m not supposed to use protein-rich styling products afterwards. I mean “moisturise and smooth whilst adding body and shine”?! Sign me up.
