Inspired by Dorit’s post to replace beauty products sustainably, I started to look for products I use often, and what to replace them sustainably.

I came across these three outstanding sustainable and organic beauty products I discovered to be even better than other products in the same category.

1. Pai Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil

Pai Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil

The Pai Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil is a cleansing oil to clean and remove makeup on the face and eyes (it’s oil-based). It claims not to strip the skin out of moisture.

My previous & other makeup removers I compared it to: Clinique Take The Day Off Balm Cleanser, Hylamide High Efficiency Face Cleaner (too oily), NIOD LVCE (also too oily).

Why It’s Outstanding

  • As claimed, it removes traces of makeup from the face. It really does. Compared to my other cleanser, this one really doesn’t leave a residue.
  • Pai cleansing oil is gentle enough for the eyes, it doesn’t sting, and is not too oily either. It was slightly trickier to remove mascaras, but some extra massage on the eyelashes should do the trick!
  • Easy to use: Put 2-3 pumps, massage on dry skin, remove with warm water.
  • And this is why it’s so great: It doesn’t leave an oily residue on the skin!

Conclusion

It’s easy to use, effective, doesn’t leave the oil on the skin. Perfection.

Price sets you back 38€, here. I know it’s steep for a cleanser, but I have a feeling it will last for a while (stay tuned for the empties post for this one).

Pai’s sustainability & organic certificates: Cosmos Natural, Soil Association, Leaping Bunny, Vegan Society, Forest Stewardship Council, Recyclable Packaging, and Social Responsibility

2. Fine Deodorant Stick in Minty Something

The Fine Deodorant Stick in Minty Something is a solid deodorant stick. The company is Berlin-based (where I am, so I’m partial to it), and it is also handmade in Germany.

Previous deodorants I compared it to (that I actually also love): Aesop Deodorant.

Why It’s Outstanding

  • It does all the job of a deodorant. Very effectively. I am quite picky with this, and the only product previously I can say I truly love is the Aesop one.
  • Smells very herby-mint. This is only my personal preference, just because I prefer anything that’s not too floral.
  • Doesn’t contain alcohol. I don’t necessarily dislike alcohol in this formulation, but I have issues of irritated areas near the armpits after a long run. This, I can use wonderfully.
  • The best thing: The Packaging is made from paper! It looks amazingly like plastic or glass on the picture, but it’s from paper. And it looks and feels great!

Conclusion

It does its job, smells nice, organic, and vegan. Doesn’t contain alcohol. The only downside is I don’t think I can bring this product to the tropics due to high temperatures & possible melting issue.

On the other hand, the stick means I can carry it in flight easily!

Price for 50g is 33€. You also order a tiny sample for 2.80€ if you’re not sure. It is steep, but not so much when compared to Aesop’s 27€.

3. Kjaer Weis Lip Tint

Kjaer Weis Lip Tint in Sensuous Plum (Used, of course!)

It is a fusion of lipstick and lip balm, which comes in a very chic and sturdy packaging that includes a mirror. My shade is Sensuous Plum (which I love). There are 10 shades in Kjaer Weis Lip Tint, ranging from nude colors, pinks, corals, berries, to reds and dark plums.

What I compared it to? Possibly almost every other lipstick/lip balm out there, thanks to my beauty addiction.

Why It’s Outstanding

  • Great texture and color
  • Easy to apply (thanks to the mirror)
  • Lasts long (product-wise), especially considering it’s an organic product you dip your fingers on to use.
  • Refillable packaging that you actually want to reuse and refill.

Conclusion

It’s one of the best of it’s kind. If you can find a color you really like, you’ll definitely love this product for life.

Price 42€ for the product & container, and 26€ for the refill. Quite within the range of luxury lipsticks, and this one definitely is.

Kjaer Weis is a certified CCPN (Controllo e Certificazione Prodotti Biologici), an italian organic certification, and it is made in Italy.
