Looking for holiday gift ideas for beauty junkies? While we love that you paid attention to our penchant for beauty-related things, it occurred to us that some might need some nudging in the right direction. Since it’s not all about the price, we’ve compiled a guide for you, which may or may not consist of our own wishlist ;).

The Obvious and Safe Choice

A.k.a. The fallback option. You almost can’t go wrong with this, but the only downside is, it might not feel as personal and it doesn’t have a nice surprise effect when opened.

What is it? A gift voucher to a beauty shop with plenty of choice of products. You almost couldn’t go wrong with Sephora in the US or Douglas in Germany. Bonus points if you know where they usually shop for some special things they like. Cue for amazingy, a lovely Berlin-based online shop carrying only organic and natural products (they do ship internationally!).

The Ones for A Special Person

OK, so hopefully you’re now convinced to dig deeper into getting that special person something to gift, but you need to have a special insight? Well, continue reading then!

When Price Doesn’t Matter

This is possibly every beauty junkie dream to get, but we most likely won’t buy ourselves. Will guarantee an “ooooohhhhh” from them. Plus if they don’t like or already have a certain color, it’s always a nice gift for their girlfriends.

Beautiful vault items like these lipsticks coffrets:

Sometimes, though, you’ve to wonder why there is such a high value of vault that does not really make sense. Especially at $650 price point?

When They Are Also Into The Marie Kondo Way

Then maybe a vault is not a great idea because it will result in so much clutter and less used products (after all, there’s only so many lipsticks you can use up in your lifetime). In this case, you can either go for something like the very pretty luxury packaging that might or might not make sense, but nevertheless great to look at.

The current MAC Holiday Snow Ball Collection definitely screams beautiful holiday collection. As do some of the holiday collections this year as we summed up on the Lazy Girl’s Guide to the Holiday Makeup Collection.

Other favorite coveted items in this category are something like the always pretty packaging Guerlain.

Christian Louboutin always knows how to make an item luxurious (and pricey) and therefore gets a super coveted status.

Kjaer Weis is the luxury natural beauty brand. Their quality is great and the packaging also feels very good in your hands (plus they are refillable!).

Alternatively, palettes are also a good option for gifting the beauty junkie on the go!

When Your Budget is Realistic

Well, you are thoughtful, but sometimes the budget just doesn’t work. What do I do? There are less pricey items you can go for. Again the MAC Holiday collection fits both luxury looking and not that expensive at the same time!

Another idea is to take a closer look at how they are wearing their makeup. What are usually their aesthetic? Do they like to experiment with color? If they love to experiment with color, you can go and get some bold on-trend stuff like the metallic lipsticks or a natural cosmetic variety and holographic highlighters.

If they are into a more classic look, then a red lipstick is always a good classic choice.

Mini Sizes To The Rescue!

These items (especially for the good ones) are usually quite expensive when it’s of a full size. Or you are not completely sure of the choice (like perfumes). You need to make sure they love it, but these are quite tricky to do correctly.

Perfumes

This one is not actually of a mini size, but it’s still a wonderful one to carry around in the travel pouch.

Advent Calendars

Otherwise, advent calendars are usually a nice gifting choice when available in your country. Notable advent calendars are when it’s an assortment of small things that made you giddy with anticipation of getting them! Brands like L’Occitane and The Body Shop has a great assortment of products for the face and body. Charlotte Tilbury also has a nice assortment in a pretty box.

Please Don’t Do This

As a last note, these are something that thou shall not attempt.

Getting a Foundation

Unless you know for sure what the person’s skintone is, the exact previous shade of the foundation they already wore. It doesn’t matter if it is a very cute compact. It doesn’t matter if it is the most expensive brand of foundation. Because there is nothing that screams more wrong than a wrong shade of foundation on your skin!

Skincare

So, the thing is, if the beauty junkie you’re trying to gift has a gorgeous skin, he/she most likely has already perfected their skincare routine. In that case, you don’t want to disturb the balance (unless you’re a dermatologist, but then you might not need this guide to start with).

If they are not, or at least you think they are not, what does it say? Gifting someone an anti-age skincare? Would it make them feel like they are old? Give and take, this is still possible to navigate, especially if the skincare in question is some fun face mask. But in general, it’s better to stay away from this category!

I hope you find this guide helpful. Let me know if there is a holiday gift on your wishlist!
