I got two more items from Fenty Beauty: Full-Bodied Foundation Brush, and Universal Lip Luminizer. After raving about the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation and Match Stix, do I really need these products?

I got this brush as an afterthought. I didn’t bring a proper foundation brush on my trip (usually I just use my fingers), and then when I read great reviews about it.

So far I found it as the best tool to apply the Pro Filt’r Foundation. It has soft bristles yet firm and dense enough to apply foundation. It has a good length and size, but most importantly, it’s cruelty-free!

The brush makes blending the foundation super easy. I had the feeling they really designed the products so it fits well together (which is a great thing!)

The only negative point is that it’s difficult to clean. The soap seemed to push the leftover foundations down the handle, and I have to wash it many times to get the color back to pink. Maybe I should wash it after every use? Thoughts? So far I’m still using it regularly though, so this is just a minor issue.

Verdict: Go get it if you don’t have a Holy Grail foundation brush yet!

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb: Universal Lip Luminizer

As someone who has a medium dark skin tone, I tend to roll my eyes whenever anyone said: “universally flattering lip color”. With this brand being owned by someone like Rihanna, I have high hopes!

It is a very pretty color in the bottle. So-called universal rose nude shade.

Really pretty swatch, right? Unfortunately, once applied, it doesn’t look like I wear anything on my lips except for some more prominent gloss and glitter.

That’s why I’m not sure. For me, it’s an okay gloss to carry around in your purse and wear instead of a lip balm, except that I’m not too crazy for its scent and gloss stickiness (just not something for me). For the extra gloss oomph I actually much prefer MAC’s Viva Glam Taraji 2 Lip Gloss (Update (27/11/2017: the review is here).

It is a safe item to get fro this brand. I don’t think you can go wrong with it, but as with everything that supposed to please everyone, it tends to be mediocre.

Afterthoughts on the brand and things I did not get (yet?)

I love Fenty Beauty. It still amazes me that even with 40 shades of foundation, there are still some tones getting left out (like I wanted to have something less yellow). How can a brand which has 8 shades of foundation claimed it’s for “all skin tone”?

I’m hoping there will be a primer with sunscreen next, which was why I skipped the primer. I’d prefer either something like NARS Radiance Primer with SPF 30 or the Deciem Hylamide HA Blur which I mentioned on my August beauty favorites.

The powder highlighters look so good, but I just won’t wear it often enough. If I had been a regular Berghain girl though, the Kilawatt Trophy Wife would’ve easily been in my bag!

I really hope Fenty Beauty would pave the way to many more beauty brands opening up to people of all skin tones and race. Definitely looking forward to more diverse beauty campaign!
