Armani Eye Tint in No. 17 (Hollywood)
I’m revisiting old favourites for another blogpost right now, and a perennial favourite on this blog have been Armani’s Eye Tints. Both Astrid and I love them, and you’ll find numerous reviews of the initial release and different LEs. I had a phase during which I wasn’t using them a lot. The ones I got when they first released separated a bit and became patchy, and while they definitely were still fine to use, I wasn’t in the mood to faff around with them.
What?
Hollywood is from the 2016 Christmas LE, and is still totally fine. Actually, after I bought it, I wasn’t really convinced it was the right shade for me – it’s a very shimmery champagne gold, and during the darker winter months, it seems off. It’s great, though, for spring and summer, especially when you’ve a bit of a tan going on (or self-tan, or have naturally a bit of a deeper skintone). Or maybe, since moving to Asia, my tolerance for a light wash of shimmer might have been risen – you never know!
Why?
Anyways, I like it, as all Eye Tints, for a one-and-done application all over the lid. Hollywood is especially great when paired with a summery look of bronzer, lots of mascara and a glossy lip. It’s also quite forgiving because its base colour is so light it truly blends into my skin (NC15 for reference). That makes it a great travel companion, because I can throw this on in record time and it looks polished and made-up nevertheless.
Where?
While this is still on the Armani site, it’s listed as sold out. I don’t know if they’re going to restock it (it’s not at Sephora at all), but potential dupes are shades 11/12 (Rose Ashes/ Gold Ashes). The new Spring collection also have some light shades that you could try if you’re in the market.
Do you do some beauty prep for summer in any way?
When you listen to magazines and influencers, prepping your body for summer is a must. I find the implication I need to be extra diligent slightly annoying. It always makes me think of Bridget Jones, comparing a woman’s body to a garden in need of weeding, watering, painting etc. So no, I don’t. If I go on a beach vacation, though, I will self-tan, no matter if I go in winter or summer.

MAC x Padma Lakshmi Lipstick in Nude Fudge
I’ve to say when I saw this collection out, I was totally in love. I wish I could get more of the collection, but unfortunately, MAC Germany decided to have the collection only online (except for one store in Munich, oh well) and it’s pricey as hell (hiking up eyeshadow quad prices to 57€ vs. 33$ in the US). Also, MAC lipsticks are, in the end, not really my favorite formulas so I held myself back. What’s really awesome though: I LOVE Nude Fudge a lot. It’s such an understated shade, but it is so easy to wear when I don’t have time to properly think of what to wear! I think it’s a great colour for a wide range of skintones, as well. Usurprisingly, all products of the collection are still available on the MAC Germany page. Which is a bit sad – it’s a really nice, sophisticated collection of eyeshadow quads, glosses, blushes, liners and brushes, but the prices that come with the special packaging are a bit hard to stomach, especially when the difference to US prices are that high.
Do you do some beauty prep for summer in any way?
Not at all. I wear sunscreen all year long, and I have the perfect skin tone for summer and bikini weather ;).
