Yeah, I know: When we started the blog, Astrid and I said we didn’t want to write a blog that was primarily about buying but about the life of a beauty junkie. More about showing what that entails, not about accumulating products. And what am I doing right now? Writing about a product that changed my life. Yep. But hear me out for a moment, ok?

I’m a hoarder. From magazines (am I the only one who owns magazines from the 90s?!) to candles to shower gel – shower gel? Yes. Because that’s where my cosmetics addiction started: With Lush around 2004. My enthusiasm for the brand has waned a bit by now and I’m only relying on a few staples, but I’ll have soap and shower gel until 2020 at least.

Move forward to today and have a look at my eyeshadow situation. I’ve stopped counting them around the 200 mark, and while I use them all, it takes a looooong time to finish an eyeshadow in a collection of that size. And there we have it, my main problem – how to organize all that makeup? I went to IKEA, I went to Muji (and came home with Helmers, Alexes and some acrylic thingummies), but the problem remained: I was always rooting through various drawers to find a specific eyeshadow or blush.

And why? I store all of my products upright due to space reasons, and was greeted with various black surfaces upon opening a drawer. Enter the brother p-touch 1000 – a label printer (http://amzn.to/1AgcPsE) . There’re loads of different label printers out there. I was mainly looking at two defining things – the width of the label and price. The width of the label shouldn’t be over 6mm, because that’s the width of a most blushes or Mineralize Eyeshadows. Tape for label printers is self-adhesive and there’re available in all the colours of the rainbow. Mine is classic black on white.

The printer itself can be set to different fonts and different character height, as well as the space between single words. Also very handy: you don’t need scissors because there’s a little cutter that cuts the tape inside the printer. Label printer and tape came to about 30€ at my local store.

Organized drawer! Yeah! How neat do those labels look?!
Drawer starting to look organized! Yeah! How neat do those labels look?!

And that’s the result: Organized drawers and I’m able to find every single item in the morning when I do my makeup.

Seeeeee, and that’s why it changed my life.
