twindly's Mascara + Primer Comparison

Mascaras and Primers for Asian Lashes

I have the typical Asian lashes: on the thinner side, not too long, and definitely not full. I’m still on the lookout for the best mascaras and primers for Asian lashes.  Currently I happen to have five opened bottles of mascaras and two bottles of lashes primers (which is rare!). So I figured, let’s do a side by side comparison post and review!

Twindlytuesday… two favourite looks!

Last week something really unusual happened – Astrid and I met in person to plan things for twindly, catch up and geek out about makeup. While we do that all the time via skype and various messenger apps, it’s really rare for us to meet in person, because we live quite far away from each other. So, what could be more fun than doing our makeup together and going for something really different that what we’re normally doing, we thought. What did we do then?!READ MORE

Book Review: Beauty and Cosmetics 1550 – 1950 by Sarah Jane Downing

While I was waiting for Lisa Eldridge’s long anticipated book ‘Face Paint’ to be delivered, I was looking for other books on the history of makeup. I found ‘Beauty and Cosmetics 1550 – 1950′ and spent a very happy evening reading it. It’s full of interesting trivia and gives a great overview of the history of makeup.READ MORE

100 Days of Beauty Looks

Back in April, a friend of mine introduced me to The 100 Day Project initiated by the lovely Elle Luna and The Great Discontent. It’s about doing a thing and sharing it for 100 consecutive days. You can read about it more here.  I’ve to say I love doing these kinds of projects. Something that shuts down my inner critics and challenging to do everyday to create a new habit.  It was then a matter of finding the right calling and the right project to commit myself to.

My summer face: Makeup products that hold up well during hot days

I don’t know about you, but for me summer’s all fine and dandy until I’ve experience that icky feeling of makeup melting off my face. Europe was recently hit by a proper heat wave – here in Germany we had around 40°C/104F – and while I enjoy this kind of weather while I’m on vacation and lounging at the pool, having to conduct your daily life in this heat was challenging. Especially if you’re loving makeup and can’t think of what makeup to wear during extreme heat.READ MORE

Travel makeup – do’s and don’ts (part 1)

It’s a sign of the common makeup addict that we like to peek into other people’s beauty bags, storage systems and hauls. It’s just what we love! As a beauty junkie who loves to travel I’m totally guilty of reading every blog post on the subject of travel makeup, not only because I love to see what other people pack, but also because I completely hate packing my bags, and packing beauty items more than anything. But over the years I came up with the following helpful do’s and don’ts that may help you to pack your own travel beauty kit.READ MORE
