Beauty news and best reads in September

try a cushion if you hate foundation

Why you should try a cushion if you hate foundation

I’m maybe a tad weird, but I love using cushion foundations, althouuuuuuuugh I don’t love all the things they’re purportedly great for. I’m not really into the glowy foundation thing, and I never use cushions on the go, so why are they great? Happy you ask! (I’ve got answers, and some recommendations for you.)READ MORE

five quick and easy ways to get better skin

Five easy ways to get better skin

I’ve struggled for years with my quite temperamental skin, and from the first skincare adventures to to the somewhat settled state my skin is nowadays, I read voraciously about the topic. Here’re some things I picked up along the way: my easy ways to get better skin!READ MORE

Beauty news and best reads in September

Our favourite reads and exciting beauty news in June!

Everything of importance that has been happening in the beauty world (can I just say that the news about Nars and Deciem blew my mind?), plus a slew of great reads about self-care, women in the movies, the unicorn trend (there’ll be mermaids soon), and the new swimsuit trends. Plus, cheap MAC anyone?

Linklove: best beauty reads and news

In which I get up on that soapbox (rant incoming) about double standards bloggers apparently have when it comes to cruelty free products. There’s also a weird incubator program by one of the biggest cosmetics companies with lackluster results, beauty communities, beauty shopping in London, phone sex and alllll the beauty news you need!READ MORE

skincare capsule collection

My skincare capsule collection: a routine for sensitive combo skin

I’m well-known for a certain disdain towards the concept of capsule collections and minimalism. When it comes to skincare, though, I’m a firm believer in both a less is more approach and the capsule concept. It just makes sense – you want to have a skincare regime in which you can combine stuff that works for you, and you don’t want umpteen bottles and pots standing around and going off because you never reached for them. So my approach to skincare is to find stuff that works for me (doh) and products that can be easily combined for the many issues my skin may come up with.READ MORE

Link(love): Favourite blogposts and articles in March

Your monthly news of the beauty world (feat. Kat von D, MAC and Catrice this time around). Also the one where I share my favorite posts and articles about beauty (of course), and everything else. This month, you might have a peek at a feud over snail mucus (really!), how monks tried to cure the plague in the middle ages and came up with a cosmetics line that is still around today (really!!!), why minimalism is stupid and a brilliant portrait of the daily life of various Instagram influencers by Vogue that manages to be neither snidely arrogant nor condescending, but is totally on point. Have a look at my favourite reads lately.

Hakuhodo i-series review

Two weeks, two brushes: Hakuhodo i-series

Let’s carry on with our little “two weeks, two brushes” series, shall we? I got two new Hakuhodo brushes the last time I was in Singapore. Because… well, who can restrain themselves when standing in front of a Hakuhodo counter? Not me! This time, both brushes from the i-series and I had a somehow rocky start. Here’s my Hakuhodo i-series review: An in-depth look at both eyeshadow (i-127) and blush (i-110) brush from the synthetic Hakuhodo brush line.

Brand favourites – L’Oreal

L’Oreal is one of the biggest beauty companies in the world, with countless brands under their belt, from high-end, to drugstore, to pharmacy brands, to niche. Plus, of course, their own eponymous brand, the one you see everywhere, in every drugstore, in every country. Pulling technology from all their other brands, there’re a lot of absolutely stellar products, but there’re two lines that are generally good, whatever product you try: Base products and mascaras. Let’s have a look at my favourites, shall we?READ MORE

Link(love): February’s best reads

This time around, my best reads in February are nearly all about beauty. They’re also more of the, ahem, nerdy variety. So if you’re a beauty geek, this one is for you. Or if you want to know about the latest MAC release, how beauty ruins traveling, THE best-selling beauty product on Amazon, and how makeup can affect anxiety – go on reading!
