Do you know this story? Of how you loved a product so much but the next better one comes along and you just forgot about it? Well, I do, so many times. BUT every once in awhile, great products really do come along and made me want to wear them all the time. So here’s my list of beauty favorites from 2016 I’d keep wearing in 2017.

1. Chanel Blush Harmony in Sunkiss Ribbon

Why I loved it?

It looked so pretty in a pan. The ribbon design and the combination of colors… swoon!

The color is just wonderful for me. It gave me an easy blushing glow that goes with almost every look. This picture showed it so well on my skin. Also, this has been my favorite products of the month twice: April and November. This product is so easy to use, there’s no way I could go wrong with it. Which comes in handy for a 5-minutes look. It actually came with a brush, probably not the best blush brush in the world, but it does the job really nicely.

The only caveat: it’s limited edition, and I couldn’t recommend this to anyone now.

2. Kjær Weis Lip Tint in Sensuous Plum

Why I loved it?

It’s the whole idea of organic products that’s supposedly better for you and more environmentally friendly, comes in a refillable pan, and not tested on animals. The packaging feels really nice as well and could double up as a lip mirror.

Why I kept loving it?

The shade just looks so good on. The finish is very flattering on the lips, and it’s quite moisturizing as well (such a plus point in winter months!). It’s also my favorite product of the month in December.

Kinda downside: I’ve to dip my fingers in it or have a separate lip brush. Also, this product is on the pricey side, I was lucky to get it at Amazingy’s sample sale, and now that I love it so much, I would get a refill. But I totally understand the hesitation to get this product at first.

3. Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Veruschka

Why I loved it?

This green is so easy for me to use. So irresistible!  (Especially when you got it during Charlotte Tilbury sale ;))

Why I kept loving it?

It lasts the whole day. It also has a complex color to it, that made it easy for the color to stand on its own. The texture is so easy to apply and blend all over the eyelids, making it a really quick and easy but smoldering look for the eyes.

4. Giorgio Armani Eye Tint in 23 Camel Smoke

Why I loved it?

I was specifically looking for matte eyeshadow that’s easy to blend and easy to apply. I happen to already love the Eye Tint series (easily one of my holy grail eyeshadow series for sure), so it’s obvious that I’d pick out this one when it was out last year.

Why I kept loving it?

On top of the shade having all the good properties of the eye tint (easy to blend, lasts all day), it turned out to be a good neutral base for eyeshadows.

5. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II

Why I loved it?

Of course the color looks really great as a neutral lip color. It’s also one of the most comfortable matte liquid lipstick I’ve had. The texture is great, doesn’t settle into my lip line. Lasts for hours and it doesn’t dry out my lips. Plus it’s not tested on animals!

Why I kept loving it?

It’s truly a great neutral matte that goes really well with green eyeshadows. I’m looking forward to try out other shades from this line! (Now if only I can get it easily in Germany…)

6. Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment

Why I loved it?

I’ve gotten to a point where I start to worry about my skin elasticity (hello mid 30s!). This treatment, used sparingly, seemed to make my skin better overnight. Plus: it’s not tested on animals!

Why I kept loving it?

It feels so rewarding to use it. I can feel that over time, my skin got smoother, and the overall texture seemed better. It’s so easy to incorporate into my routine at night, and with the result like that, I can say for sure I’ll keep on wearing it.

7. Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum

Why I loved it?

I wasn’t a believer in mascara primers, but after trying this one out, I think I do. There’s a more detailed review on this in my ultimate mascara post here. In short, this serum made my lashes look longer and minimize the smudgy-ness of mascaras on me.

Why I kept loving it?

Apart from the benefits I already feel with this, it also enables me to wear colored mascaras! And oh dear, I so love it. Such a great sneaky way to bring some colors into your look. On the look I had with Veruschka, you can see this in action.

8. IT cosmetics CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream with SPF 50 in Tan

Why I loved it?

It said it has everything on. It blurs imperfections on my skin but doesn’t look cakey whatsoever.

Why I kept loving it?

I love this product because despite of the hot and humid weather of Indonesia, it holds up really well. I’m easy going when it comes to foundation, so something like this, where it blurs some skin imperfections, not too heavy, and super low maintenance (that I can apply with my fingers), are perfect for me.

There you go! All the products I loved last year that I kept on loving! (See Dorit’s favourites from 2016 here and her beauty bucket list for 2017 here.)

PS: The books are there because every year I also have the resolution to read at least 26 books. I want to finish Neal Stephenson’s Anathem by end of January. All 1000 pages of it.
