This time, we found the best nude lipliner for you (on a budget, no less!), experienced the loss of a great lipgloss (dang it), revisited an old favourite, let out our inner Trekkie and had multiple baths. Wanna dive in? 😉

Dorit’s Makeup and Body Favourites

Let’s start with the best budget find I ever encountered – Kiko’s Creamy Colour Comfort Lipliner. It may be a biiiiit more expensive than Kiko’s usual offerings (pencils usually go for 1,90€), but this one (for 5,90€) is something else entirely. First, the ‘creamy’ in the title isn’t an exaggeration at all. It doesn’t tug, but glides smoothly across the lips. I have No. 303 ‘Tea Rose’, a warm nude pink along the lines of MAC’s Spice Liner. Upon applying, it nearly feels like a gel that sets very quickly and matte. It will absolutely not budge, and you can wear it easily as a lipstick. I love to wear it under a lipgloss.

MAC Huggable Glass

Which brings us to my next favourite that’s also a product I’m extremely cross with: MAC’s Huggable Glass in Mega Hug (23€/ $21), a muted raspberry. It’s one of my favourite lipgloss formulas – super cushiony, super moisturizing and non-sticky. My complaint? There’re 2,5ml (0,08 fl.oz.) in a tube, while there’re 4,8ml (0,17 fl.oz.) in the regular MAC Lipglass and 2,7ml (0,09 fl.oz.) in a Cremesheen Glass. Which also means that I don’t think I’ve worn it that often, but nevertheless it’s nearly empty. So, crappy cost-performance ratio, awesome product. *grumble* Nevertheless, the Kiko liner and Mega-Hug? Match made in heaven.

Lush Lava Lamp bath bomb

I love taking baths, and I love Lush’s products for taking baths. Bath melts, bath bombs, bubble bars – I love them all. Yes, they’re expensive, yes, they’re maybe not the best thing for your skin with their fragrance and other possible irritants, but then, I don’t use them daily. And from time to time, I want an explosion of colour and scent in my bath tub. Which they deliver. I also always split them up – they’re so big that one half is totally enough for my (rather small) bathtub. A bubble bar I might sometimes even divide in three portions with a sharp knife. That’s cost effective! 😉 Pictured are Lava Lamp, full of orangey and mandarin goodness, with purple dots made from cocoa butter so it’s actually fairly moisturizing. The other one with the pink heart was a limited edition for Valentine’s Day and called Lover Lamp, smelling of vanilla and orange. Lush bath bombs are around 5,95€/ 4,25£/ $7,95.

Astrid’s makeup favourites

There’re days when you come across items in your collection that you’d happily wear everyday. And then there’re days when you go out, buy a new beauty item, use it a few times and realize that a Holy Grail has been born. That happened to me last month.

Complete face with all favourites, including MAC Where no man has gone before, MAC Highly Illogical on cheeks and Armani Camel Smoke Eye Tint on eyes!

Armani Eye Tint in No. 23, Camel Smoke

Yup, I know that exactly this item featured already in last month’s favourites. But it’s just so good! And see the sentence above, about that happily wearing it every day? That’s me with Camel Smoke. Seriously, this is the lazy girl’s dream come true. Swipe on your lid, blend, add a winged liner, voila! Perfect polished eye look in three minutes. Aaaaand done. (Other facts you might need to know – it’s a matte medium brown, spreads and blends easily and wears well all day long. Convinced yet? See our initial review with all infos here.)

MAC Star Trek

Let’s go to the new loves, shall we? There’s a whole blogpost here about MAC’s Star Trek Limited Edition and the products I got, but since then, I came to realize how much I love two specific products I got. And I’ve worn them all the time since the release, which says something about this new-found love (everybody with a similar large makeup stash can relate). Where No Man Has Gone Before has a Lustre finish, meaning that my natural lipcolour is able to peak through, giving it the prettiest pinkish-golden sheen. It has golden shimmer, but there’s nothing over-the-top about it. It’s just so pretty and it’s quite sad that it was limited edition. Trip the Light Fantastic Powder in Highly Illogical – doesn’t it look like galaxies in the pan? Totally swoon-worthy. But that’s not all – it’s not only beautiful in the pan, it also gives me instant cheekbones. No need to faff about with countouring and highlighting, I just apply this and – cheekbones! Swirled together it’s like a plummy bronze with gold highlights, and on my skin, it pops. I even thought about getting a back-up, it’s that good.
