Something old, something new, something borrowed – oops, wrong occasion! But this month’s favourites definitely feature some old and new beauty items, and maybe even something blue? Come in and find out!

Dorit’s June beauty favourites

Hothothot please send help? Or a portable AC in front of which I can live? So, it has gotten quite hot in Shanghai, and I need makeup that doesn’t melt of my face.

Enter the Burberry Colour Contour Pen in Dusky Mauve. (Read our long review of the Burberry Colour Contour Pens here.) It’s a great everyday colour that pleases my taupe-loving heart, and complex enough that you can wear it easily on its own. It stays on the whole day, no matter how hot or muggy it’s outside, and I love it. I’ve worn it a lot this month (it’s also great because it’s so easy and quick to apply, and the hotter it gets, the more lazy I become).

Continuing with the ‘it’s so hot I can’t deal with it’ theme, here’s a very old favourite that I dug up – Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti, a bright and cheery orange – just the thing for minimal summer makeup. It’ll brighten your face and your day! (Ok, sorry, that was a bit too cheesy, right?) But honestly, I love colour like this for summer – throw on an easy neutral eyeshadow and a bright lip, and done. Of all those lip butter thingies that were released across the brands, this is still my fave formula. Also better than the hyped up Clinique Lip Pop thingies IMHO. For a fraction of their price, too!

Confession time: I’ve got puny lashes, dubbed ‘teeny-tiny’ by a cheerful MUA. One day, last December, I had finally enough, marched into the nearest Douglas, and bought a tube of Revitallash Lash Serum. Pricey, yes, but oh so worth it! After five to six weeks of nightly application I saw some impressive results. After two months I started using it every other night. I’ve gotten nice, long and feathery lashes now that definitely benefit from a nice volumizing mascara, but ‘teeny-tiny’?! Not at all any longer! I’m nearing the end of my tube now, which makes the steep price a bit easier to stomach. I also didn’t experience any side effects (other than sometimes a bit of sticky eyelids in the morning), and, in conclusion, am a very happy bunny. I already ordered a new tube.

Astrid’s June Beauty Favourites

Well, Berlin has been quite punctual this year with the start of summer. 21st of June and the temperature went to 30 degrees C. June is also my birthday month, *hint hint* ! And this year as a birthday present from dear hubs, we travelled to Vienna.

Such a beautiful, classical city it was AND since it was just a weekend trip, this time around I managed to really reduce the amount of makeup I brought. Which happens (of course) to include my three favorites of the month!

I guess I’m the one with the blue here. It’s more purple really, as you’ll see on the pics.

NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Pool Shark

It’s a lovely shade of purple from the NARS Summer collection 2016. I’m the kind of person who loves to play with color, and this purple is good to play a fun punch in summer. It looks more prominent when applied wet, as you can see from my swatch.

Pool shark might not be the color I wear all year long, but for this bit of time in summer, I wouldn’t mind wearing it (almost) every day!

Burberry Colour Contour Pen in Pale Copper

As Dorit already mentioned, and as we said in our review here, it’s just so easy to use. It’s nice when you don’t want to carry a lot of stuff on your holiday but still want to look sophisticated. Pale Copper is definitely one of the colors that is a staple in my collection, you’ll most likely see me wearing this one often!

L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Tinted Lip Balm in Rose Amber (SPF 25)

With this one, I was just looking for an easy tinted lipbalm with an SPF that I can apply without a mirror, and the color should be good for me to not look dead. I definitely got more than what I asked for! I love the packaging, it’s not too sticky, the kind of texture I could reapply easily all day long. The color is also so pretty and more or less neutral for my skintone. Perfect for days where I pack on a punch of my eyeshadow ;).
