When it comes to prettiness, I think we all can agree that this year’s Guerlain Holiday collection blew all other collections out of the park. It’s a small collection, and happily, it’s one of the rare instances when beautiful packaging, product quality and the overall tone and feel of the collection comes together. Every item was carefully curated to fit in with the others, and on top of it, the collection was suitable for a whole range of skintones and ages. (We won’t speak of the price of some items, though.)

I settled on the Meteorites Flocons Enchantes (Perles de Neige) as my item of choice early on. Too often I’ve let limited edition Meteorites slip through my fingers, only to regret that later on. Plus, the snowglobe packaging? And the little stars interspersed with the pearls? Irresistible. Although truly, if I’d win the lottery tomorrow, I’d go and get the whole collection (minus the nailpolish and the bronzer). Pick one piece, and you won’t be disappointed – even the polish and bronzer are nice products, just not to my personal taste.

The other Meteorites I own

I already own the regular Meteorites in Teint Beige 02, and truth to be told, I use them mainly for the feeling of indulgence and luxury I get from them. I love the scent of violets when I open the tin, and I love swirling my brush in the multi-coloured pearls. I mainly use them in the cooler and greyer months. The teeny tiny reflecting glitters are really brightening and glow-inducing during that time of year, while I feel that the Meteorites are over the top glowy in the glare of the sun during the height of summer. Your mileage may vary, of course. Something I figured out early on was never to use the Meteorites as a setting powder. It made me look like an oily mess a few hours in, so my application method of choice is actually dusting them over a setting powder.

A word of caution, though: If you’ve got sensitive skin, or skin that reacts to perfume, I’d be careful with the Meteorites. Wear them on top of everything to give your skin a protective layer of products and never wear them directly over your moisturizer.

How do the Holiday Meteorites differ from the regular ones?

The Holiday meteorites consist mainly of rosey-nude and tan pearls and white stars. They all contain tiny glitters in varying degrees. Overall, I can’t perceive a difference in colour the meteorites give my skin, both give me a translucent effect, but the Holiday ones are definitely more sparkly.

I still wear them all over my face and think I don’t look like Edward in the sun, but I wouldn’t wear these during summer in bright sunlight. For those gloomy winter days, they are perfect, though. Even hubby commented how nice I look when I wear them, though it’s clearly a thing that’s not visible in pictures.

The Guerlain collection is still available at various retailers like Escentual, feelunique, Sephora, or at counters. The Meteorites retail for £45.00/65€/$80.
