As part of the Clubelle experience and in relation to my 100 days makeup look, Maggie Cappeletti, the founder of Clubelle, invited us to try out the service and have a personal consultation session with her.

I started out feeling a bit skeptical, as I always do when I am going to a makeover, feeling like “Oh, I totally know what I am doing, I don’t need any more advice, I just like the feeling of getting the makeover!”

Sure.

Yeah, I have been humbled many times. You always learn something in these sessions. With Maggie, it certainly is a fun experience.

Maggie wanted to teach me how to do winged eyeliner and smokey eyes. I had a specific wish: to have a quick makeup look that makes the most impact.

My basic, almost holy grail stash!

She told me to bring my favorite items in my stash (omg, how to choose!)… at least it’s easy for me to bring my basics (foundation, mascara, concealer). The colors, not so much. I decided to go with my goto peach blush, NARS Gina. A sample of lip colors I like: red (MAC Riri Woo), raspberry/plum (NARS Vera), and orange/peach (YSL Kiss & Blush Orange Fougeux). For eyeshadows, I just opted for a palette. The biggest palette I have (hey, who could make a decision for single eyeshadows?!?), NARS Narsissist Palette.

To be honest, I also really like this picture. But, let’s get started!

The 5 Minute Look

For the 5 minute look, Maggie focused on quickly applying the foundation with a dense brush. Then she used the YSL Kiss & Blush in Orange Fougeux for the blush. On the eyes, she used the Giorgio Armani eye tints in Senso, and to tie it in with the whole look, she put a dab of the Kiss & Blush on my eyes (I’m not sure if I would recommend this as I’m in general very careful about the safety of products when it comes to eyes/lips applications).

To finish the look, we put a dab of Kiss & Blush on the lips, and a swipe of mascara. It’s really a quick look, and once you’re used to it, I suspect you might be able to do it even faster.

And here are the items she used on me…

The Eyeliner Look

Maggie wanted to show me specifically how to do an eyeliner for my eye type. I realized she had a specific way of teaching, which I like: She did one side of my face, I replicated it on the other side. It’s a great way to get the lessons stick more in your head, and since her goal is to actually teach you looks you’re comfortable doing.

I like her eyeliner tips, and also another valuable tip she gave me was to mix some colors I have. I didn’t have a corrector for my undereyes, and my concealer was not doing a good job for it. What she does: mix my concealer with the orange kiss and blush. Voila, a peach corrector!

The Smokey Eyes Look: Bring Back the Light!

“Bring back the light” is the phrase Maggie used so many times when we did the look! It’s a fun way to keep your features properly illuminated and let yourself shine through!

As for the look, we were going all the way here. Concealers, illuminators, foundations, and contouring (she was using MAC Bronze on me)! I really like her illumination tips and tricks, and I guess it would really justify the purchase of a YSL Touche Eclat (she was using #5 on me)!

For the smokey eyes we worked on the base from the previous look and built the shape from it, using the combination of NARS Brousse II and Mekong for the dark smokey base.

Well, this is definitely the look if you’re gonna be swarming in paparazzi style!

Another good tips she had, since I didn’t bring a nude lip color (really important for smokey eyes!), was mixing my foundation with my NARS Orgasm Illuminator and patting it on my lips. I love how it looks! It’s probably not the most practical one for re-application, but it does the job very well.

After the session, Maggie also drew me a picture of the face chart, and all the products we used and some recommendations of things to get (she insisted I get the Bobbi Brown corrector instead of doing the concealer + blush combo 😉 )
